Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball was one of four optional sports that was voted into the sports program of the Commonwealth Games at the 2011 CGF General Assembly in St Kitts & Nevis. As an optional sport, it means that the host city can choose to include this sport if it wishes - there are other sports which must be on the program).

In 2018 at the Gold Coast is the first time that Beach Volleyball will be held at the Commonwealth Games. There was a total of twelve men's and twelve women's teams competing (48 athletes, at 2 per team).

Indoor volleyball is a recognized sport and has never been on the program.
