Seychelles lies in the western part of the Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar and 1593km east of Mombassa in Kenya. It is an oustanding natural beauty comprising of about 155 islands.

• The Republic of Seychelles joined the Commonwealth in 1976.
• The Seychelles have attended every Games since making their debut at the 1990 Games in Auckland. Their first medal arrived via the boxing ring in Victoria in 1994 and more boxing medals followed in 1998.
