Manzoor Hussain Jr: Field Hockey

Manzoor Hussain Junior (born 28 October 1958) is a former field hockey forward who played for Pakistan from 1975 until 1984.



Greatest Sporting Achievements

Hussain was capped 175 times, scoring 86 goals in his nationla team career. Pakistan played at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and won bronze. They also competed in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics winning gold. He helped Pakistan win gold titles for the 1978 and 1982 Hockey World Cup, 1978 and 1982 Asian Games, 1982 Asia Cup and 1978 and 1979 Champions Trophy made a world record.

Why Was He So Good?

Manzoor Hussain Junior is remembered for his flash of genius, scoring the finest goal of the knock out rounds during a game with Germany. He is known as The Golden Boy, and was given the President’s Award for Pride of Performance.
