Highest Paid Women Athletes in 2014

Here are of the top paid women athletes from around the world for 2013-14 according to the figures from Forbes Magazine. Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova leads this list again, as she has since 2005. Despite being injured and not playing for half of the year, and also being ranked below world number 1 female tennis player Serena Williams, her endorsements greatly improve her yearly earnings.

Tennis players make up the first three positions, and 7 out of the top 10. Tennis is certainly the sport to play if you are female. The top three were the only women in the list of “The World's 100 Highest-Paid Athletes”, released by Forbes Magazine's in June 2014.

Sharapova's earnings of 24.4 million dollars between July 2013 and July 2014 is still well behind the highest paid male athlete for the same time period, boxer Floyd Mayweather, who had combined earnings of 105 million dollars (see highest paid men for 2014).
