Orienteering Fitness
Orienteers are required to run over rough ground, forest terrain
or rough open hills - it is truly cross country. Events can last
from 30 minutes up to several hours - therefore a high level of
endurance fitness is required. Due to the uneven terrain, considerable
body strength and agility is also needed. In addition to the technical
training required, the orienteer must train like a long distance
runner.
