Sports Table Football attempts to replicate the game of Association Football on a table top with action figures. The sport is based on the game of Subbuteo, and is often referred to using this name. Sports Table Football requires dexterity and skill on the part of the player to flick the playing figures, which stand on weighted bases, across the tabletop towards the ball.
The rules of sports table football correspond closely with association football. Players maintain possession as long as the figure they flick makes contact with the ball, and the ball does not subsequently hit an opposing figure, although there is a maximum possible of three consecutive flicks for each figure.
Shots at goal can be taken only once the ball is over the 'shooting line', a line mid way between the goal line and half-way line. The goalkeeper figures are maneuvered using an attached rod that passes through the back of the goal.
