1992 Barcelona & Madrid Paralympic Games
The main 1992 Paralympic Games were held in Barcelona, Spain. There was also a separate event for athletes with an intellectual disability held in Madrid, in addition to the main Paralympics held in Barcelona. The Games in Madrid, called the Paralympic Games for Persons with mental handicap, was held immediately after the Games in Barcelona as part of their gradual inclusion of athletes with an intellectual disability into the Paralympics.
