The ALBA Games, also known as the Friendship Games, was a multi-sport event organized by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA).
The ALBA games were held once every two years from 2005 till 2011. It was originally intended only for athletes of the ALBA member states but it expanded to other countries in the Americas.
The first edition was held in 2005 in Havana, Cuba. Since then it was decided that Cuba and Venezuela would switch editions every two years. The 5th ALBA Games, scheduled to be held in Quito, Ecuador, was postponed and then eventually canceled in 2015. There have been no more events since.
