Wheelchair Racing at the Olympics

At the 1984 Olympic Games wheelchair racing was first included onto the program, as an exhibition sport showcasing the Paralympics event. The event was held during the multi-event competition. Wheelchair Racing continued to be included on the Olympic program as a demonstration event until 2004.

At each Olympics where wheelchair racing was included, there were two track events, a 800m race for women and a 1500m race for men. Medals were not awarded, as the sport was not part of the official competition.
