Floorball

Floorball is a sport which basically is a type of floor hockey sport developed in the 1970s in Sweden, and is popular mostly in Nordic countries. It is played by a team consisting of five field players and a goalkeeper. This sport is played by both men and women indoors. It is played using a 115 cm long hockey-like sticks and a lightweight plastic ball with holes. The matches of this sport are played in three periods with twenty minutes per period. Floorball is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF).

The typical equipment used to play this game consists of a stick, a pair of shorts, a shirt and most importantly indoor sports shoes. Players are also allowed to wear shin guards, protective padding and eye protectors during the game to avoid any type of injury.

There is a men and women's World Floorball Championships held every two years. Another major competition is the Euro Floorball Cup for club teams.
