Black Sea Games

The Black Sea Games was a multi-sport event intended to be held every four years, mainly for nations bordering the Black Sea. However, it was only held once.

1999 Black Sea Games were scheduled to be held in Samsun, Türkiye, September 7-12, 1999. The games were to be a first edition. However, the first event was not held until 8 years later, in Trabzon, Türkiye July 2 to July 8, 2007.

A total of 1,277 athletes (937 men and 340 women) from 11 countries participated, with 186 medals won in 13 different sports. The following countries participated: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Türkiye and Ukraine. The leading country was Russia.

Subsequent games were originally scheduled for 2010 (Constanța, Romania) and 2014 (Samsun, Türkiye), but were not held.
