Czechia (Czech Republic) at the World Cup
The former country of Czechoslovakia broke up in January 1993, forming Czechia and Slovakia.
The Czechs played in their first qualifying competition at the FIFA World Cup as the Czech Republic in 1998, and in 2006 made their first appearance in the finals under that name. They did not make it through the group stage.
2006
Czech Republic didn't make it out of Group E at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
2026
The Czech Republic qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by finishing 2nd in their qualifying group, behind Croatia. They then survived the UEFA play-offs, defeating Ireland in the semi-final and Denmark in the final to secure their spot.
At the finals, Czechia were drawn into Group A alongside Mexico, South Korea, and South Africa. They finished bottom of the group with 1 point, bowing out after the first round.
