Madagascar at the Winter Olympics

Madagascar finally made its presence at the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy in 2006. The island nation fielded alpine skier Mathieu Razanakolona who faltered in the qualifying round amid strong rivals. The nation missed the succeeding editions of the Games from 2010 to 2014.

In 2018, the country returned to the Winter Olympics with one female athlete, Mialitiana Clerc. Clerc was born in Madagascar, though was adopted by a French family at the age of one and learned to ski in France.

The African nation is still aiming to win its first medal at the Olympic Games (both Winter and Summer).
