Discontinued Weightlifting Events
Weightlifting events at the Olympic Games has had many changes over the years. The modern event has been whittled down to just the 'snatch' and 'clean and jerk', though there are now many weight divisions and women now also complete.
- Weightlifting One Hand Lift — This event was similar to the modern snatch event. (held 1896, 1906)
- Weightlifting Two Hand Lift — athletes used a technique similar to current day clean and jerk (held 1896, 1904, 1906)
- All Round Dumbell Contest — the strongest of the strong, with a total of 10 dumbell lifts (held 1904)
