2013 International AFL Combine

Here is information about an international Australian Football combine in 2013. These international combines use the same tests as conducted at the AFL Draft Combine. Here are details about a US combine in LA, an international combine in Dublin, and a combine in New Zealand.



USA Combine

Seventeen ex-college basketball players attended the AFL's 2013 USA Combine held in LA.

North Dakota forward Patrick Mitchell received a international rookie contract from the Sydney Swans following his performance at this combine.

Decathlete and American Football player David Grzesiak was also impressive, jumping 86cm in the standing vertical jump (as did Matt Sauey and Cliff Ederine), also excelling in the 3 km time trial, winning in 10 minutes and 34 seconds, almost a minute ahead of second-placed Taylor Broekhuis.

European Combine - Dublin

24 athletes (23 from Ireland and one from England) were invited to the European Combine held at Dublin City University in Ireland. The list comprised of mostly Irish athletes, predominantly from Gaelic football backgrounds. The combine was held over two days 12th – 13th February, 2013. The athletes were put through their paces by former Sydney Swans Premiership winner and Kerry footballer Tadhg Kennelly. Two successful athletes were selected to attend the 2013 AFL Draft Combine in October.

The AFL held its second New Zealand combine at the ASB Indoor Stadium Kilbernie in Wellington on the 24th of January 2013. The National Combine involved 40 participants from Northland, Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury.
