Nutrients are chemical substances required by the body for survival. There are Micro- and Macro-nutrients. Macronutrients are such chemicals needed in large amounts by the body: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Micronutrients on the other hand are chemical substances required in trace amounts for normal growth and development.
