Wakeboard at the Olympic Games
Wakeboard was one of eight sports that was considered for a single spot in the 2020 Olympics. In May 2013 the IOC decided to drop wakeboard from the shortlist. Wakeboarding is a young and new sport which appeals to youthful audiences, and may be what the IOC is after, however it will have to wait a while before being considered again for the Olympics.
What is Wakeboard?
Wakeboarding is a variation of waterskiiing — though by using cables instead of motorboats to pull the athletes over the course, the competition experience can be standardized between competitors. See more about the sport of wakeboarding.
