BRW Top 50 Sports Earners for 1997

Here are the top earning Australian sports people for the year 1997, as published by the Business Review Weekly (BRW) magazine. This was the first year that the magazine published this list. Just the top 10 of their "Top 50 Sports Earners" list is shown. The list is compiled by BRW journalists and includes gross wages, prize money, sponsorships and endorsements. See other BRW Top Earners from other years, and also how these compare to the international top earner lists.



Golfer Greg Norman has top spot on the inaugural BRW top sports earners list, a place he will hold for many years to come. The highest ranked female is golfer Karrie Webb at 9th. The other females on the list were Cathy Freeman 33rd and Susie O'Neil 46th. All of the top 10 sports people earnt the majority of their money overseas.
