As a territory of the United States, Guam shares its love of baseball. A distant second is rugby union.

Though Guam is not considered as a world power in any sport, they do have some proud moments like when their national rugby union team demolished the Brunei team with a 74 – 0 victory in June of 2008. Guam also is the birthplace of the Pacific Xtreme Combat, a mixed martial arts organization that has international professional MMA fighters coming from Hawaii, Japan, US mainland, South Korea, Philippines and Northern Mariana Islands. Guam has also hosted the Pacific Games twice (1975 and 1999).

Football is also very popular and is a member of FIFA since 1996. Despite its popularity in the local scene, Guam is considered as one of the bottom teams in FIFA and only registered their first win in 2009 when they went up against Mongolia. So far, Guam only has two athletes that has progressed beyond the first round of competition for the Olympic Games. Ricardo Blas Jr got to the 16th round of the 100+kg Judo competition in the 2012 Summer Games in London while Sean Pangelinan made it all the way to C-1 500m semi-finals for canoeing in the 2008 Beijing Games.
