Notice the markers a couple of meters before the turning line, which is used to indicate the area which they must be in when it beeps otherwise they get a failure warning. A cycle ergometer VO2 max test demonstration, going through all the steps required to set up and conduct the test. This method is using a manual method of collecting the expired gases, rather than using a ventilometer to measure the expired air volume and automated systems to collect samples of the expired air.
