Bicycle Motocross (BMX)

Bicycle Motocross or BMX is a cycle sport which involves the use of BMX bikes. BMX events can either be competitive racing or freestyle.

For BMX racing, the participants will go through purpose-built off-road single lap race tacks. These tracks usually have dirty race courses, they are made of various jumps and rollers and a finish line. The features of the track include starting hill, step-up, double, step down, roller, and flat table.

Competitive BMX racing became a medal sport in the Olympics starting 2008. For free style BMX, it involves participants using BMX bikes and performs stunts. It is considered as an extreme sport. There are no specific rules for freestyle BMX, but style, skills, and creativity should be emphasized. ¬†Freestyle BMX are done on streets, parks, verts, trails, and flatlands. There are two sizes for BMX bikes, the 20” wheel bike and the 24” wheel. The 20” one is usually for the minors, the 24” ones are for the pros.
