Golf the only sport that has been played on the moon. On 6 February, 1971, Alan Shepard hit a golf ball while on the moon.
The 'Featherie' golf ball, which were thin, leather bags stuffed with feathers, was introduced in 1618.
Golf has been played at the Olympic Games in 1900 and 1904. More information about Golf at the Olympics. As part of this competition there was a putting event, but this has since been taken off the official list of Olympic Sports by the IOC.
