Safaricom, Kenya

The Safaricom is a half-marathon event held in Kenya's Lewa wild-life reserve.

The event takes place in Kenya within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the northern part of the country. The course winds through the conservancy's varied terrain, including savannahs, forests, and hills, offering participants breathtaking views of Mount Kenya.

The Safaricom Marathon is not only a test of physical endurance but also a celebration of Kenya's natural beauty and conservation efforts. As runners traverse the challenging route, they encounter wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and zebras, adding to the unique experience of the race.

If you are worried about the wild animals, they have armed rangers and helicopters to keep an eye on you and the lions, cheetahs and leopards. You will still have to contend with the rhinos, elephants and giraffes!
