Greatest 2017 Sporting Highlights

There were several major highlights in the sporting world for 2017 (see our 2017 year in review for a full rundown). The year started with a heart-stopping finish to the Super Bowl, the first-ever overtime with Tom Brady's historic efforts gifting him a record 5th ring. On the track, Usain Bolt's final international race did not go to plan, but he was given a champion's send-off nonetheless.

In tennis, Nadal and Federer continued their battle at the top of the rankings, despite both nearing the end of their careers. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 600th career goal and was named FIFA's best player in the world for the fourth time. The biggest news story was the showdown between champion boxer Mayweather Jr. and UFC champion Conor McGregor, with the victorious Mayweather ending his career with a 50-0 record.
