Thailand at the Winter Olympic Games

Thailand first participated at the Winter Olympic Games in 2002. Thailand has sent a team to the 2002, 2006 and 2014 Winter Olympics. In 2002 and 2006, the team consisted of just one athlete, skier Prawat Nagvajara.

Prawat Nagvajara earned the distinction as the first-ever Thai athlete to see action at the Winter Games when he competed at the 30-km freestyle mass start event in alpine skiing.

Pop-violinist Vanessa Mae, a British citizen, competed for Thailand at the 2014 Winter Games in Socchi under her father's surname of Vanakorn. She finished last in her event. She was later banned by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for four years over the manipulation of giant slalom races which allowed her to qualify for the Sochi Olympic Games at the last minute.
