Malta at the Winter Olympics

Malta first attended the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia in 2014. The nation has also appeared in 15 editions of the Summer Olympics.

One of the smallest nations in the world, the Mediterranean nation is still seeking to win its first medal in both the Summer and Winter Games. The nation was close to winning medals in the double trap event in shooting in 2004, 2008 and 2012 as its world champion shooter William Chetcuti lost in the final round by small margins.

Elise Pellegrin became the first ever Maltese Winter Olympian when he competed in women’s giant slalom and women’s slalom alpine skiing in 2014.
