The International Olympic Committee only recognized Kosovo in late 2014 and it competed in the Olympics for the first time at the Summer Olympics in Rio 2016.
As an independent nation, Kosovo made their debut at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea. They were represented by skier Albin Tahiri.
