Women's Tour de France

The Tour de France event is solely for men. However, there is an event called La Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale or simply Le Tour Féminin which is unofficially considered to be the Tour de France for women. The term "Grande Boucle" means "Great Loop" in English, describing the stages of the event that 'loop' around France.

Le Tour Féminin was held from 1984 to 2003 (no event 1990-91). There was no event in 2004. In 2005 it was resurrected though held over fewer stages and held at a different time. There were no events held from 2010-21.

A women's tour race returned in 2022, under the title Tour de France Femmes.

The event is usually held just after the men's event, however due to the Olympic Games being held in Paris at the time, the women's event will take place in the short gap between the Olympic Games and the 2024 Summer Paralympics, with the race taking place over seven days, with eight stages.
