1896 Athens Medal Tally

Here are the top 10 ranked countries based on Olympic medals won in 1896. As per tradition, the ranking order is based first on the number of gold medals, then silver and bronze. See more about the Olympics Games in 1896

In 1896, the leading country on the medal table was the USA, with host nation Greece winning the most medals overall. There were only 10 individual nations that won medals, with mixed teams winning another 3 medals (in tennis). Actually no gold medals were awarded, as the winners were given silver medals, though just for consistency we call it a gold medal awarded to the winners here. See more about Olympic Medals.
