In October 2009 Rio de Janeiro was named to be the host of the 2016 Olympic Games, following London in 2012. Rio will become the first South American city to host the Olympic Games. The Games are scheduled to be held from 5 to 21 August 2016. Th sports of golf and rugby union have been added ot the program for the 2016 Games
