Everyone is looking forward to 2012 for the London Games, which is going to be huge. The opening ceremony is scheduled to be on 27 July 2012. In October 2009, Rio was named the host of the 2016 Games, and will become the first South American city to host the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Motto In 1921, Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, borrowed a Latin phrase from his friend, Father Henri Didon, for the Olympic motto: Citius, Altius, Fortius ("Faster, Higher, Stronger").
