Spain at the World Cup

Spain has participated at the Rugby World Cup only once, in 1999, where they did not win a match. In 2019 and 2023, the Spanish team was expelled during the qualification process, both times due to player eligibility rules.

In 2023, Spain had reached the World Cup for the first time since 1999. However, Spain were then kicked out of the World Cup and replaced by Romania after it was determined that they had fielded an ineligible player in qualifying, allegedly with the help of a forged passport.
