Wheelchair Curling at the Winter Paralympic Games
Wheelchair Curling is the Paralympic version of the Winter Olympic sport of curling. The sport is open to athletes with a physical impairment in the lower part of the body. Each team must be comprised of male and female players.
The rules for game play are very similar to that of regular curling. The rocks used and the pitch in which the game is played are exactly the same. One major difference is that there is no sweeping involved in wheelchair curling.
The sport had its debut at the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games. Canada has been the most successful team, winning three of three gold medals so far.
A mixed-doubles competition in wheelchair curling has been added to the program for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
