Longue Paume Olympic Demonstration Sport

Longue Paume, meaning ("long palm"), was a demonstration sport in 1900. Longue Paume is an outdoor version of jeu de paume, and is regarded as the ancestor of most racket sports. Jeu de paume was an official medal sport in 1908, and a demonstration sport in 1924.

What we now call tennis or lawn tennis (which was also once a demonstration sport and now an official Olympic medal sport) is derived from this older version of the game.
