  • St Vincent and the Grenadines joined the Commonwealth in 1979. It is one of the Windward Island countries of the Eastern Caribbean, lying close to the southern end of the Caribbean chain and about 97km north of Grenada. It has a total land area of approximately 400 sq kms. See map of St Vincent.

  • St Vincent and the Grenadines made it's first appearance at the 1958 Commonwealth Games in Cardiff. Participation in 1966 through to 1978 followed before returning to the Games in 1994 for uninterrupted competition ever since.

  • The Games in 1970 saw St Vincent & the Grenadines lift it's first medal, a bronze in the weightlifting, with the inaugural gold achieved in 1974 thanks to Frankie Lucas's performance in the boxing ring.
