  • St. Lucia joined the Commonwealth in 1979.

  • The island is part of the Windward Islands group which form an arc jutting out from the Eastern Caribbean into the Atlantic. It lies south of Dominica and north of Barbados. See map of St Lucia.

  • St. Lucia made their Games debut in 1960 and competed next in 1970 and 1978 before participating uninterrupted since 1994.

  • Their first medal came in Manchester in 2002 when Dominic Johnson picked up a bronze for his 5.60m leap in the men's pole vault competition.
