Australian Modern Pentathlon at the Olympics

  • In Helsinki in 1952, the swimming coach Forbes Carlile was the first Australian to compete in the modern pentathlon event.

  • Peter Macken is one of the few athletes to compete at the Olympics in two different sports: Fencing in 1968 and Modern Pentathlon in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976.

  • Neville Sayers also competed in two different sports at the Olympic Games: Modern Pentathlon in 1956 and 1960, and Shooting in 1960.

  • Duncan Page also competed in two different sports at the Olympic Games: Modern Pentathlon in 1964 and 1968 and Fencing in 1964.
